Noel, Noel?

“The First Noel” is a Christmas song.  We know it, we like it, it’s very nice. But what does it mean!?

I looked it up, and now I feel like an idiot.  I was thinking it would be some latin or french word for “Jesus” or “incarnation.”  You guys, it means “a Christmas carol.”

Which is why the first words of the song is “The first noel, the angels did sing…”
The angels sang the first Christmas carol. And we’ll be singing about it on Sunday!
