150.

I’m not sure what to say.  We have spent the last 150 days reading the Psalms, and I’m not really sure what to say on the 150th day.

Do you remember, back in June, when we talked about the Hebrew title for the Psalms as “The Book of Praises?”  We talked about this in the midst of some thick lament.  We talked about this when most of the Psalms we were reading were not exactly praise-y.

A few years ago, someone pointed out to me that the book of Psalms had a form.  Someone showed me how each psalm, even if it begins as a lament, grows into praise and thanksgiving.  Then, they showed me that the entire book, the whole collection, moves from psalms of lament to psalms of praise.

I had never noticed it before, that macro-movement.  But tonight, as I sit here reading Psalm 150, I feel it.  I have grown and moved and stumbled into unadulterated praise.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
